The wrong size is the #1 reason for returns. Two minutes of measuring saves you a round-trip shipment — and saves your dog an uncomfortable accessory.
Never order based on breed or weight alone. Two 26 lb Beagles can differ by over an inch and a half in chest girth. The breed guidelines further down are a starting point, never a guarantee. Only the measurement counts.
Grab a flexible tape measure (a sewing one works great). No tape measure? Use a piece of string, then measure it against a ruler. Measure your dog standing, on all four legs, relaxed.
Wrap the tape around the base of the neck, where a collar naturally sits — that's just above the shoulders, not under the jaw.
Used for: collars, bandanas, harnesses.
This is the single most important measurement. Wrap around the chest at its widest point, just behind the front legs.
Used for: harnesses, coats, vests, raincoats.
Measure in a straight line from the base of the neck (between the shoulder blades, where a collar sits) to the base of the tail. Don't continue down the tail.
Used for: coats, sweaters, onesies.
A well-fitted collar or harness lets you slide two flat fingers between the strap and your dog's body. Tighter, and it restricts breathing; looser, and your dog can slip out of it.
👉 Add about 1 inch (2–3 cm) to your neck measurement before comparing it to the charts.

For a harness, chest girth decides the size. If your two measurements fall into different sizes, go with the chest.

Here, back length matters most: a coat that's too long gets in the way when your dog relieves themselves; too short, and it no longer protects the lower back.
